Why Paperwork?

Why not? The army is a bureaucracy and prior to computers all bureaucracies ran on paper. There wasn't a single man or woman in or out of uniform that didn't carry some form of paperwork in their pockets or purses whether it be identification, a leave pass, or ration stamps. Paper was the lifeblood of any organization and still is today for many. The goal of most reenactors is to be as faithful to their historical counterparts as possible. Paperwork can help build a story and add realism to your character. Still have that theatre ticket from London in your pocket to remind you of better times? Maybe a telegram or postcard from a sweetheart on the homefront?

Are you on e-bay?

Yes we are! Our e-bay user name is "redrommel" and many of our items can be purchased there as well. Most items in our e-bay store are the same prices as you'll find on the site but every once in a while We'll put something up for auction at a discounted price so mark us as a favourite and check back often!

Why are your documents better than the competition?

Most vendors online sell documents and other items that are, quite frankly, cheap copies. I myself have purchased repro documents that were obviously just scanned and printed out on an inkjet printer. These documents look like bad photocopies and bleed in the rain making them unusable for even the most amateur collector.

Don't get me wrong, there certainly are some very good vendors out there! In many cases though these documents are very expensive and while that may be okay for the most serious collectors your average Joe doesn't want to spend $50 for an award certificate.

We feel that we've struck a very good balance between these two extremes of price and quality. We only work from originals or extremely high resolution scans (usually 800dpi). Then, using multiple graphic programs we faithfully REPRODUCE the document. This is very important to note. Many vendors feel that the job is done once the item is scanned and would just print it out at this point. The documents we are recreating are in many cases 60+ years old and if we just scanned them in and printed them they would look it. When possible we only use our scan as a template to create a vector drawing which means you get the clearest and sharpest documents possible. Further, our documents will not bleed and will stand up to all the wear and tear that the originals did!

I notice that most of your products are grouped in packages, can I buy your documents individually?

Absolutely. We goup our documents into packages for the convenience of both ourselves and our customers. Some packages have some options available for you to customize but we understand that some people need more flexibility. If you only want part of a package or would like to inquire about substitutions just contact us and we'll work something out.

I'm looking for a document that you don't have on your website, do you have it?

Quite Possibly. I've got a big 'to do' list that I'm constantly working on and the item that you're looking for may be in that list. Feel free to e-mail us with any requests and if we have it we'll move it to the top of the list for you.

I have a document that I want reproduced, can you do it for me?

I certainly can! I'm always looking for new documents to reproduce! What I require to recreate your document is either the original (I will pay all postage costs both to me and then back to you) or, if you don't trust some random stranger with your precious originals, I need a high resolution scan as well as information on the exact size and type of paper. When I send your document back I'll include a copy of my reproduction as well as another document of your choice as a thank you.

Are there any particular documents that you are looking for?

Usually yes. E-mail us to find out what our current wish list is. In general though We're really looking to bolster our British/Commonwealth line as well as move into Soviet items. If you can help us with anything please let us know! A good scan of Grandpa's old documents and we'd be more than happy to throw something your way to show our appreciation!

Can you fill out my documents for me?

Yes we can! Many vendors will fill out your documents with computer fonts but we have the actual typewriters to give your documents that truly authentic look! Check out the document completion section of the paperwork page for details.
